Trying to Conceive
Your initial appointment
At Merrion Fertility Clinic we recognise that your time is valuable and you may be anxious to get a comprehensive diagnosis and commence treatment as soon as possible. With this in mind we will start the diagnostic phase of your treatment immediately. You will be asked to complete some preliminary tests which will give your fertility doctor insight into your needs at your initial appointment and ensure that we can initiate your management without delay.
On receipt of your referral letter we will forward a registration form and male & female screening forms for completion and return. You must accept to be asked some personal questions e.g. your general health and history of illnesses; frequency of intercourse; sexual history; type of work etc. It is important that we get this information to help you move forward in the appropriate direction.
Patients who are being referred to MFC for fertility treatment may be asked to have the following tests completed prior to their initial fertility appointment:-
- Progesterone (7 days before your next period)
- Rubella
- Day 3 – FSH & LH
- Prolactin
- Testosterone, SHBG, Androstenedione, TFT’s – only if clinically indicated e.g. suspect PCOS
- Smear test (completed within the previous three years)
- Semen Analysis at MFC (completed within the previous year)
