Merrion Fertility Clinic - Your questions

Visiting your GP

If you and your partner have been trying to become pregnant for 12 months unsuccessfully, it is time to talk with your General Practitioner, and sooner if you are over 35 years of age.

Making an appointment is one of the first positive steps you can take towards your goal of having a baby. It is important that both partners attend this appointment as conception difficulties can occur in both the male and female partner.

Your GP will ask a range of questions related to your menstrual cycle, your efforts to conceive, your medical history and your lifestyle. The doctor may undertake some preliminary investigations including blood tests and semen analysis to assess your fertility status.
