Evelyn Cottell

Dr Evelyn Cottell, MFC Laboratory Manager, graduated from UCD with BSc, MSc and PhD degrees.  She subsequently completed a Diploma in Health Services Management. She has been involved in the area of Assisted Reproduction for over 20 years. She worked as an embryologist for 15 years at the HARI unit, Dublin during which time she completed a PhD on Male Infertility.  She travelled to Melbourne, Australia to further develop her skills and knowledge, working as a Senior Embryologist at the internationally renowned Monash IVF unit.

She is Principal Embryologist and Lab Manager at Merrion Fertility Clinic since 2005, where she aspires to bring the highest level of care to our patients through providing the best possible laboratory practices, focussing in particular on quality and safety of eggs, sperm and embryos.   She is responsible for the design and implementation of our new state of the art IVF  laboratory and theatre facilities.

Evelyn serves on the Scientific Committee of the Association of Irish Clinical Embryologists and contributes at national and international conferences and courses.  She is actively involved in on-going research in key areas of Assisted Reproduction.  These include collaborative work with the UCD Conway Institutes School of Agriculture, Food Science and Veterinary Medicine, on the application of Metabolomics to optimising embryo selection and IVF success.
